Ostrów Wielkopolski and Poznań - the hometown of Komeda are the background to this documentary movie about the outstanding Polish composer. The film shows the genius composer, combining his life story, with the image of the artist's home city, which shaped his sensitivity and musical imagination. From the accounts of his colleagues, friends and family members, Komeda emerges, as one of the most outstanding Polish jazz musicians. The recollections from the Komeda’s associates create an ambiguous and mysterious image of the artist. Some remembered him as a silent and closed man, while for others he was the life of the party. The composer is remembered, among others, by Roman Polański, Andrzej Wajda, Jan Ptaszyn Wróblewski, Wojciech Karolak, Rosław Szaybo and Michał Urbaniak. The film is distinguished by animated sequences by Piotr Dumała, made for draft recording of lullaby from Roman Polański's "Rosemary's Baby". The film use archival materials from the collections of the National Film Archive and Polish Television, iconographic materials from the collections of the Cinematography Museum, and fragments of motion pictures with the composer's music. The documentary is complemented by animations of Komeda’s photos. The soundtrack consists of archival recordings recorded, primarily during Jazz Jamboree '67, as well as contemporary interpretations of Komeda's compositions by pianist Leszek Możdżer.
